Kitebar
Buying advice
The kitebar is the control centre of your kite and has a major influence on control, safety and feel. There are bars with 4-line and 5-line systems. Most modern kites use a 4-line system, where two front and two back lines control the kite. 5-line systems offer an additional safety line, make relaunching easier (especially with C-kites) and improve stability in certain conditions. For beginners and freeriders, 4-line bars are usually the best choice as they are easier and more universal. The width of the bar influences the steering behaviour: a wider bar ensures faster and more direct steering, while a narrower bar allows for more sensitive, smoother steering impulses. Narrower bars (approx. 40-45 cm) are recommended for small kites (less than 7 m²) to avoid oversteering. A standard bar of around 45-50 cm is ideal for medium-sized kites (7-10 m²). Large kites (over 10 m²) benefit from a wider bar (50-55 cm) so that the kite reacts more quickly and easily. Many modern bars are also adjustable in width to flexibly accommodate different kite sizes. Other important factors when choosing a bar are an easy-to-use quick-release system for safety, a rotating chicken loop connection and durable, smooth-running depower systems. At Surfdeal you will find a wide range of kitebars for different systems, kites and skill levels - for optimum control and maximum safety on the water
