In 2000, the starboard Carve celebrated its premiere and became THE freeride board of the year. The shorter but wider shape also inspired the entire freeride board segment in the following years and signalled the start of new, significantly easier to ride shapes. In 2023, the Carve with its revised shapes still stands for ultimate freeride performance, high control and manoeuvrable riding characteristics. Developed by Jean Louis Colmas in 1984, the Wood technology became the hallmark of starboard construction in 1995. Wood Tech is still a favourite for riders who prefer more comfort, more control and the unique feel of an original Starboard. It's time to reintroduce this technology to reduce our ecological footprint. The deck is made of 0.6 mm Australian pine on 3 m H100 PVC to ensure durability and comfort in a good weight ratio. The wood is less visible this time and is protected by a beautiful plue colour, which gives a really nice effect. Let's go back to the starboard origin with class.
Features:
DEVELOPED FROM SCRATCH
- Lightweight boards developed from the ground up with the smallest ecological footprint. Natural 0.6mm thick Australian pine covers the deck of the board over the PY, which is made from 30% recycled PVC, reducing overall stiffness and weight.
THE WONDER OF NATURE
- The wood technology introduced by starboard in 1995 weighed one kilo less than the best boards of the time. Today we are reintroducing this technology with 0.6mm thick Australian pine, but replacing the PVC with a more environmentally friendly material made from PY, which consists of 30% recycled PVC and offers additional stiffness. Crisp and responsive on the water, yet supple, comfortable and durable.
FLEX OPTIMISATION
- Along the rails of the UltraKode & Kode we have added extra-light, unidirectional carbon strips to further stiffen the board between the rear foot and the mast rail.
SICOMIN BIO-RESIN - GREENPOXY 33
- We use Sicomin's GP33 plant-based bio-resin, which contains half the carbon of conventional petroleum-based epoxy resin while providing a clear, high-performance laminate with excellent UV resistance.
EPS CORE - 15.5 G/CM³ DENSITY
- Shear strength, fused and customised to each starboard mould to minimise waste.
