Additional power through a carbon shaft? The carbon paddle is easier to paddle because it is lighter and the shaft bends a little in the middle when pressure is applied. At the end of the paddle stroke, just before you take the paddle out of the water, you release the pressure and the carbon lets the paddle back to its original state. This flex gives you a smooth push forward because the force is transferred to the blade. An aluminium paddle, for example, does not bend and therefore does not have this flex.

This paddle has a carbon handle, which is very comfortable and light in the hand due to its shape. The system makes it easy to change the length even while paddling. The construction of the paddle is a combination of 40% carbon and 60% fibreglass. The finish is matt and remains grippy even with wet or sweaty hands. The blade is a blend of fibreglass and nylon for optimum stiffness and durability. The three-piece design ensures that the longest part is a maximum of 90 cm long, so it fits in your backpack or is within the maximum dimensions for travel. We love the jacana and it is our first choice for any paddling event.

Leafhoppers or Jacanas (Jacanidae) are a family of waterfowl in the order of plovers (Charadriiformes). Their habitat is water surfaces overgrown with aquatic plants, on which they find a foothold with their oversized feet and search for food, build nests and raise their young. Leafhoppers are one of the few birds in which the males take over the tasks of breeding and raising the young. The name jacana, which is also sometimes used in German, comes from a Brazilian Indian language.
