Its large span in relation to chord length and relatively thin profile resemble a glider wing. With this type of wing you generate maximum efficiency and lift. The short chord length determines the airfoil thickness, and a thin airfoil reduces drag. The span provides stability and a slightly larger turning radius than a wing with a lower aspect ratio and the same size.
