The main function of the rear stabiliser is to ensure a level and stable trajectory. However, conditions and user preference can change the angle of the stabiliser that feels best (also known as the sweet spot). Tuning changes the angle of attack (AOA) and controls the amount of downforce the stabiliser exerts on the entire airfoil system - to increase the stabiliser's AOA and front foot pressure, add a positive shim. The slightest change in AOA can improve comfort, reduce fatigue, change the cadence of pumping or the turn radius of the carve, and increase/decrease front and rear foot pressure without changing foot position. With the Sonar Shim Kit you can stack multiple shims, from our basic setting it covers a range of -0.5 to +2.5 degrees. Optimise the performance of your foil system and change the way you ride.
